Serigraphy – screen printing technique, based on the use of a stencil superimposed on a special, extremely fine mesh (formerly woven, today made of metal or synthetic fibres) and the manual or automatic pressing of ink through the matrix. Until recently most illustrations in books and various magazines were made using this technique. Screen printing is also used by contemporary artists to create original works in limited editions.
