Oil paints – a type of slow-drying paint of paste or liquid consistency in which the pigment particles are suspended in a carrier, oil, usually vegetable. Linseed oil, walnut oil, poppy oil and safflower oil are usually used for oil paints. In order to accelerate the drying of oil paints, siccatives are added to them.
